RKF Engineering Services was engaged by our client, a mining port terminal located in Queensland, to inspect and design remediation for two existing train dump stations to extend the life of these aging structures for a further 50 years. 

We conducted detailed inspection and concrete testing of the structures to identify the defects and concentration of contaminants within the concrete. The data was used to conduct durability analysis and thereafter develop targeted repair and preventative maintenance designs, which included high quality patch repairs, concrete surface sealing, joint repairs and the provision of cathodic protection within the concrete to ensure the structures could meet the additional 50 year life with minimal ongoing maintenance.
