Position Scope
This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your university studies and develop practical engineering skills and experience working on a range of interesting structural engineering projects.
You will have the option to work 2-3 days per week around your study commitments and additional hours during semester breaks.
The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering team and be provided with one-on-one mentoring, on-the-job-training and development opportunities and visit construction sites to learn from our project engineers in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing structural drafting services to support the design team.
- Assist in the design computations for a variety of structures, becoming familiar with company design procedures, Australian Standards and a range of construction techniques.
- Assist in the preparation of construction documents.
- Undertake concrete and mix design testing.
- Assist in developing operational and capital expenditure budgets.
- Assist in preparing fee proposals and schedules of work.
- Undertake drafting design alterations in line with design changes where appropriate.
- Attend project sites for inspections or other field work.
- Write and edit engineering reports.
Selection Criteria
Whilst there will be on-the-job training, the successful applicant will ideally:
- Be in your 3rd or final year of a civil/structural engineering degree.
- Possess strong organisational skills and the desire to learn.
- Have strong attention to detail and take pride in your work.
- Be currently residing in Australia with Australian working rights.
- Have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Be fluent in written and spoken English.
